About the Course
Endodontics is a challenging field of dentistry that has undergone rapid and significant technological changes over the past few years. It is easy for the general dental practitioner to become confused by these issues and lose sight of the biological fundamentals that lead to a successful outcome. A correct diagnosis, in combination with the right choice of new materials and techniques, will ensure an environment that offers an extremely high probability of success and a healthy apical periodontium. The goal of this course is to provide participants with knowledge and skills to make the practice of endodontics simple and predictably successful. Preparation and root filling techniques will be demonstrated live, and there will be ample time for participants to practice contains a significant amount video footage recorded through a surgical operating microscope that will allow the participants to experience complex endodontic procedures from a firstperson perspective.

- Treatment phases in root canal therapy
- Microbial control
- Surgery design, equipment and instrumentation
- Rubber dam isolation techniques
- Access and negotiation
- Root length determination with electronic apex locators
- Root canal preparation with a biologically-based rotary nickel-titanium technique
- Multiple root filling techniques with a bonded root filling material
All participants will receive a copy of Endodontics Manual for the General Dentist by Martin Trope and Gilberto Debelian. This book, valued at $120, from Quintessence Publishing, is a companion to the course and it contains all of the major principles discussed throughout the day. It is richly illustrated and will prove to be a useful source of reference for the general dentist.
About the Presenter - Dr Glen Weston
Dr. Glen Weston B.D.Sc., M.D.Sc. has been in specialist endodontic practice in Brisbane since 1998. He has held the position of visiting lecturer, external examiner and clinical supervisor at the University of Queensland Dental School. Glen has been a key-note speaker at international dental conferences and he is actively involved in endodontic continuing education across Australia. He has been the President of Queensland Branch of the Australian Society of Endodontology, as well as the Federal Secretary/Treasurer of the Australian Society of Endodontology.
